The Air Cadet League of Canada, Ontario Provincial Committee is a civilian, volunteer-led, not for profit organization sanctioned by the National Air Cadet League of Canada and in partnership with the Department of National Defence, to administer and support the Air Cadet Program across Ontario.
At the local level, the Squadron Sponsor, Royal Canadian Legion Colonel John McCrae Memorial Branch 234, Guelph; and the 121 Red Arrows Squadron Support Committee works with the Squadron DND staff to offer a comprehensive training experience.
Although the core activities funded through DND, local squadrons have a mandate to offer extra optional activities. Each year, the Squadron needs to raise funds for our training section and for transportation and field-related activities that are not funded by DND.
For 121 Squadron these include as many discretional Squadron activities as we can throughout the year to enliven the overall Cadet experience and these are funded largely by our own efforts.
- Biathlon
- Drill Team
- Effective Speaking and Debate
- Jr and Sr Ground School
- Marksmanship
- Flag Party
- Pipes and Drums band
Funds for these activities must be raised locally.
We also wanted to remind all Cadet parents that the 121 Red Arrows Squadron is a separate registered charity and that we always are welcoming of any direct monetary donation and will see that such funds are put to good use for your son or daughter, while providing in exchange a personal or corporate tax receipt for any such donation. Some employers have corporate matching programs, thus leveraging your personal donation even more, so please think of us as year-end approaches and include this in your overall gift-giving and tax-planning considerations if you are able to assist us through this mechanism.
As in the past, tax receipts for these contributions can be arranged so please give advance consideration to how you might be able to help and let us know. Also late in the year we present our Annual Review, further celebrating our individual Cadet achievements and we are looking ahead for corporate or personal sponsorships for those individual awards in the neighbourhood of $ 75.00 each. Please think about how you might be able to assist us in reaching out so as to help honour our deserving Squadron recipients of these awards.
We are always looking at ways to improve our program for the cadets, sponsorship opportunities are available. Any donations can be directly e-transferred to the Treasurer at 121redarrows.treasurer@gmail.com and a Donation Tax receipt will be generated.
